Darrell Lee Denney, a cherished father, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, in Kaufman, Texas, at the age of ninety-one. Born on February 13, 1934, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Darrell's life was a testament to kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication to both family and country.

As an accomplished electrical engineer, Darrell made his mark in the world working for Digital Switch Communications for many years, contributing his expertise and creativity to the field. His professional life was paralleled by a deep-seated commitment to service, having proudly served as a veteran in the United States Navy. This military experience profoundly shaped his character, instilling in him values of honor and camaraderie.

Outside of work, Darrell found immense joy in the simpler pleasures of life. He had a profound love for spending time at the lake with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He often watched planes take off and land at Love Field in Dallas, a sight that captivated his imagination and sparked a lifetime interest in aviation. Furthermore, he delighted in the nostalgia of military movies and the heartwarming melodies of old-time military songs, each one evoking memory dear to him.

Darrell was more than his accomplishments; he was a beacon of warmth and joy. He was known for his kind and welcoming spirit, paired with a profound sense of humor that could light up any room. Friends and family alike felt the comfort of his presence – a true testament to the beloved cornerstone he was in their lives.

He leaves behind his beloved spouse of 65 years, Jerry, who stood faithfully by his side through all of life's journeys. Together, they raised a beautiful family, which includes their son, Ronald Denney, and daughters Phyllis Denney (spouse – Robert), Annette Bayless (spouse – Wayne), Jennifer Kite (spouse – Ken), and Angela Crawford (spouse – Brian). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: April Depa, Cheri Denney, Johnny Denney, Phyllis Lynn Woosley, Darrell W. Rushing, Jonathan Rushing, Jeremie Bayless, Kimberly Hardaway, Kyle Bayless, Kody Bayless, Kaitlyn Kite, Kelsey Kite, Dominique Denney, Austin Crawford, Courtney Crawford, 40 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who will carry Darrell’s spirit forward into the future.

Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Jack Lee Denney; his mother, Luevenna Hamby; and his brother, Burl Wayne Denney. They welcomed him with open arms, and in their embrace, his spirit will forever soar.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. He will be laid to rest with the military honors befitting a life of service and sacrifice, surrounded by those who loved him most and will continue to share his stories, keeping his memory alive in their hearts.

Darrell Lee Denney's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but the legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind is one that will resonate through generations, a testament to a life well-lived.
